Monica Lewinsky again suffered because of a love affair with Clinton

Monica Lewinsky left the stage during a performance in Israel after an interviewer asked if she wanted to hear an apology from former President Bill Clinton.

Lewinsky had a close relationship with Clinton many years ago when she worked as an intern at the White House, which as a result led to the launch of the President’s impeachment procedure in 1998 by the House of Representatives, writes Buzz Feed News.

In Jerusalem, Monica spoke at a conference about bullying and harassment, topics on which she regularly writes and speaks. After her speech, she sat down to be interviewed on stage by Israeli Channel 2 news anchor Yonit Levy.

“Recently, in an interview with NBC News, former President Clinton became angry when asked if he had apologized to you personally. He said: “I have made a public apology.” Are you still expecting an apology, a personal apology?’” Levy asked.

“I’m really sorry, I’m not going to do this,” Lewinsky said, before standing up and very quickly leaving the stage.

A few hours later, Lewinsky posted a message on Twitter in which she explained that she had set “clear parameters” of what the conversation shouldn’t concern, and that the interviewer asked her the same question the day before, and Monica answered that it “goes beyond all bounds”.

“When she asked me this on stage, in blatant disregard for our agreement, it became clear to me that I had been misled. I left because it is more important than ever for women to stand up for themselves and not let others control what they say,” Lewinsky wrote.

She also replied in the posts of the news services who wrote about the incident, claiming that she was “rapidly carried off” from the scene, noting: “I politely said that I was leaving.”

A statement from the Jerusalem Post, Channel 2 News, which organized the event, said: "We respect her sensitivity and wish her good luck."

They also disagreed with Lewinsky’s statement that the interviewer agreed not to ask the question, stating that “the question was legitimate, worthy and respectful and in no way went beyond the requests of Ms. Lewinsky.”

In May, Monica Lewinsky was denied a visit to an event organized by a magazine, where she had been invited earlier, since Clinton also accepted an offer to speak. Clinton representatives said they did not know about canceling Monica’s invitation.
