He was 27 years older than me, with a rich life experience. At that time, he was at the peak of his career, and I came to the first job immediately after graduating from college, ”said Lewinsky.

However, she stressed that in this way she is not trying to find an excuse for her actions and does not diminish her part of responsibility for what happened.

“I repent every day,” the woman admitted.

Lewinsky expressed a desire to join the #MeToo movement, but emphasized that she is not talking about sexual violence in her relationship with the former president.

According to her, she still sees the reminders of what happened 20 years ago.

“It was on Christmas Eve 2017, I was relaxing with my family in one of the restaurants in Manhattan and I saw a man in a hat, he was part of a company that was sitting in the hall. This man looked familiar and suddenly it clicked in my head. Is it really him? When I approached him and asked, “Are you not...”, the man smiled and said, “Let me introduce myself, I’m Ken Starr.” The greeting was necessary because I was actually meeting him in person for the first time in my life. In 1998, he was the independent prosecutor who investigated my case, the man whose men, along with a group of FBI agents, forced me into a hotel room near the Pentagon and told me I was facing 27 years if I did not cooperate with them. This man made that 24-year-old girl's life hell by trying to investigate and impeach President Bill Clinton on charges of obstruction of justice and lying under oath. The same lie that Clinton maintained an extramarital relationship with me for a long time,” Lewinsky wrote.

According to her, she was surprised to see Starr, as an ordinary person, he behaved friendly, but was very unpleasant to her.

“I turned and introduced him to my family. This may sound strange, but I was going to remind Starr that 20 years ago, he and his team of prosecutors were hunting and terrorizing not only me, but also my family. For example, my mother, who was supposed to tell what I confessed to her in personal conversations, or my father, who was threatened to launch an investigation into his medical practice. And even the aunts with whom I had dinner that night. And all this because Man in a Hat believed that I could be useful to him in that “big case” against the President of the United States,” Lewinsky said.

The woman admitted that the scandal affected her health.

“For several years after the scandal, I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, which is very painful and expensive. And I still haven’t been healed. I think my trauma was part of the overall national trauma caused by that scandal,” she said.

Lewinsky also thanked Hillary Clinton and the daughter of Chelsea for their restraint during the investigation.
