About 500 Russian tourists cannot fly from Mexico. Updated

The plane of the airline "Russia", on board which were about 500 tourists from Russia, 8 hours waiting for departure from the airport of the Mexican city of Cancun, writes Meduza. According to the latest data, the liner should go to Moscow in the near future.

As explained by representatives of the airline, departure Boeing-747operating the charter flight was scheduled for 11: 10 New York time. Passengers boarded. However, it turned out that “according to an unexpected demand of emigration control”, by this flight four citizens of Armenia should be deported from Mexico.

Waiting for the deported people lasted for 4 hours, the plane was ready to fly out after 15: 00 New York time, but by 17: 25 the Mexican airport did not give permission for departure.

By this time, the crew had ended their working hours (such requirements are established by Russian law), and the flight departure was postponed to January 17 - not earlier than 13: 00 New York time.

Honorary Consul of Russia in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo Armin Wolpert earlier reportedthat the flight "Russia" from Cancun was delayed because of the debts of the airline to the airport. In "Russia" the existence of debt is categorically denied.

According to the latest data, the airline "Russia" received all the permissions for the departure of the aircraft from the Mexican resort of Cancun. Check-in of 500 passengers has already ended, the liner should go to Moscow soon. About it RBC said the official representative of "Russia".

At the same time, he noted that some passengers tried to block access to the aircraft, demanding from the airline actual confirmation of readiness to perform this flight.

The Ministry of Transport on the day of January 17 instructed the Federal Air Transport Agency and Rostransnadzor to quickly deal with the situation on non-flight tourists from the Mexican airport. "Russia" was instructed to inform citizens about the time of departure, and the aviation authorities - to hold talks with Mexican colleagues to identify the causes and prevent similar situations in the future.
