Immigrant from Georgia wants to buy out Lenin's body and build a mausoleum for him in the USA
David Datuna again surprised the world community. The last time he reminded of himself in 2019, he ate a Maurizio Cattelana banana, which was sold for $ 120 thousand at the Art Basel fair in Miami. RBC Style.
American artist of Georgian origin David Datuna expressed his desire to build a copy of the Lenin Mausoleum in Washington and to buy out the body of the leader, RIA Novosti reports.
The artist explains the meaning of this art object by the changes taking place in the USA and the movement of society towards social-communist transformations.
“Americans are tired of the policy of aggressive capitalism, in which they are forced to pay off loans all their lives and do not have free access to medicine. Lenin and his mausoleum are the most striking symbols of change, the demand for which in 2020 in the United States is especially high, and is increasingly being discussed on the eve of the presidential elections, ”the artist's press service said.
Last week, the future of the mausoleum on Red Square was at the center of a massive debate. The Union of Architects of Russia announced a competition for the best concept for its reuse. The organization intended to "architecturally comprehend how the mausoleum can be used in the very situation when Lenin's body will be taken out after 50 years." However, the communists opposed the competition, accusing the architects of "violating historical continuity." As a result, the competition was canceled.
