Japanese automobile concern Honda recalls 4,5 million cars due to airbag problems.

The problems, as reported in the company, are caused by malfunctions in the Takata pillow system, which is why some companies have begun to withdraw cars since April.

These companies include Toyota Motor Corp., Nissan Motor Co., Honda and General Motors. According to experts, Takata airbags may work too abruptly, which is why small metal fragments fly into the vehicle during an impact.

According to reports, this defect caused the death of at least eight people. On Wednesday, a similar incident occurred in Japan with a Nissan car, but no one was hurt.

In this case, the company Honda said that the decision will not affect North America.

Earlier Thursday, it was reported that Hyundai has decided to recall 140 cars due to a defect in seat belts.

"Preventive measure"

A malfunction in Takata airbag inflators can cause them to shoot metal fragments at a person when deployed.

In May of this year, Takata found about 34 million vehicles manufactured in the United States and equipped with faulty airbags to be defective.

Since 2008, Honda has been forced to withdraw 24,5 million vehicles worldwide from the market to replace airbags.

As a Honda representative explained to AFP, the recall is a preventive measure.

“Unlike the usual practice of reviews, in this case we are not waiting for the final results of the research,” the press service explained.

This time, in Japan alone, Honda will withdraw more than one and a half million cars.

On Wednesday, it became known about another client affected by Takata pillows, this time from the automaker Nissan. The operation of the passenger side airbag during a light accident resulted in a fire in the Nissan X-Trail. Passengers at the time of the accident in the car was not, but the driver received superficial burns.

Takata is now the defendant in a range of lawsuits in North America.
