Most Russians are hostile to Western countries

According to 75% of Russians, the largest Western countries (USA, Germany, Japan, UK and others) are “opponents of Russia who seek to solve their problems at its expense and, when the opportunity arises, harm its interests,” Levada reported on Wednesday -Center".

At the same time, 17% of respondents believe that these are “Russia’s partners who have common interests with it (for example, in the fight against crime and terrorism, environmental disasters, in the development of science, culture, economy).”

According to 71% of respondents, the USA plays a generally negative role in the modern world (in September, 2013% thought so in 50). Only 4% of Russians speak of the positive role of America, 3% speak of a neutral one.

Every fifth (19%) believes that the role of the United States is “sometimes positive, sometimes negative,” showed a survey conducted October 2-5 among 1600 people in 134 localities in 46 regions of Russia.

The current relations between Russia and the US 45% of Russians estimate as tense - this is the highest figure since 2001, sociologists say.

Another 29% consider Russian-American relations hostile (39% in September 2014 of the year and 12% in March of the 2014 of the year). In addition, 18% calls these connections cool (11% in September 2014 of the year).

Relations between Russia and the European Union 42% of Russians are considered to be tense, 32% - cool, 12% - hostile. The fact that this relationship is normal, said 7% of respondents, 2% call them friendly and good.

According to 46% of Russians, Western democracy is not suitable for Russia, it is destructive for it. Just over a third (36%) believe that it is “suitable for Russia, but requires significant changes related to the characteristics of our country.” Every tenth (10%) believes that it is necessary for the development of Russia.

Residents of Crimea annexed by Russia also speak poorly of the United States. Thus, recently a Forum journalist inquired about the opinion of Crimeans about America - he could not hear a single positive comment.
