Avigdor Lieberman urged to close the embassy in Ireland because of the ban on Israeli products
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman 12 July called on the country's authorities to close the embassy in Dublin in response to the Irish bill that bans trade with Israeli settlements beyond the green line. This writes RTVi with reference to Twitter Lieberman.
Ireland became the first country to recognize the Palestine Liberation Organization, whose charter initially provided for the liquidation of Israel as a country. In 2017, the deputies of the City Council in Dublin voted to raise the Palestinian flag over the city hall as a sign of support for the struggle to create an independent Palestine.
The Green Line appeared in 1949 after the end of the Arab-Israeli war as a temporary border that separated Israel from the Arab countries of the region. After the Six Day War 1967, Israel seized territory beyond that line. The UN believes that the Jewish state occupied them, but Israel calls the Golan Heights and all of Jerusalem its integral part, and defines the rest of the lands seized during the war as disputed territories. Behind the "green line" there are many Arabs who do not have Israeli citizenship. There, the Jewish state established settlements after 1967.
