American set a new age record for marathons

The American Harriett Thompson became the oldest woman to successfully overcome the marathon.

92-year-old Thompson ran the San Diego Marathon in seven hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds. She crossed the finish line accompanied by her 56-year-old son Brenni.

At the time of setting the record, Thompson was 92 of the year and 65 days. The previous achievement, 92 of the Year and 19 of Days, was owned by Gladys Barrill, who ran the Honolulu Marathon in 2010 for the year.

Previously, Thompson had to fight oral cancer three times, but was eventually cured.
