An American masterfully landed a plane on the highway, whose only engine failed

A Florida man aspiring to become a commercial pilot showed off his skills in an emergency. He landed in a single-engine plane on a four-lane road in North Carolina without hitting cars or power lines. Read more about this unusual situation told the publication The Guardian.

Vincent Fraser was flying the plane on July 3 when he decided to inspect the land he had bought near the lake. His father-in-law was also on board. During the flight, his engine failed three times.

"There was nowhere to land, so I told my father-in-law that I love him and I'm sorry I put him in this situation," Frazier said.

Father-in-law replied that he loved Frazier and would do everything possible to help him.

“I just said, ‘We’ll land alive,’” he said.

“The only thing I thought about was that I need to protect my father-in-law and I need to protect people on earth. I was just trying to make it the best I could without hurting anyone,” Frazier told the publication. CNN. “At some point, I thought that a bridge at a distance was the best and only chance.”

But the plane, he explained, was too low to land on the bridge, and there were too many cars on the bridge to try to land without seriously risking harm or killing someone.

The pilot was heading for the river when Highway 19 appeared under the plane. Luckily, Frazier said he had enough headroom to turn the plane towards the highway at the last second. A GoPro footage released by the sheriff's office shows the plane flying over cars before landing on a road where oncoming traffic pulls over to avoid a collision.

Frazier, a former US Marine who currently works as a flight attendant, said he began to doubt his piloting skills. But the successful landing, as well as the support of family and society, dispelled all his doubts.

“Now I know I can do it,” Frazier said.
