15 safest cars

The Road Safety Insurance Institute (IIHS) has allocated 15 cars and SUVs.

After the IIHS decided to demand more advanced headlights and stable performance on the new crash test, to get the designation “Top Safety Pick Plus“, Only 12 passenger cars and 3 sports cars received an award in the first round.

The IIHS said that they have not yet looked at all the models and cannot test all the options, but will update the ratings throughout the 2018 year.

“Automakers are truly confronted with the fact that safety is an important component of consumer choice, and they are working hard to meet the criteria,” said IIHS President Adrian Lund. “They want to be known as security leaders.”

Lund added that new vehicles are safer than ever.

Yet even as automakers make significant safety improvements in new vehicles, more people are dying on American roads. The number of car crash fatalities in the United States has been rising since 2016, reaching a 9-year high of 37, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Lund noted one positive development: Automakers are rapidly improving headlights amid growing awareness that vehicles don't illuminate the roadway enough to keep drivers and pedestrians safe.

As for the list Top safety pick, then Toyota led it with 10 cars, and Hyundai was the second with the 9 models. Subaru hit the list with just one of the 7 cars.
