Infographics: Islam to 2050, take over the world

Over the centuries, world religions have been powerful factors in the development of mankind. Pew Research Center analyzed the possible future of world religions taking into account the age of believers and the birth rate. Forecasts came out interesting. In particular, the study showed that in 35 years, almost every third person on the planet will practice Islam.

According to the main findings of the study, by the year 2050:

• Muslims in the world will be almost as many as Christians;
• atheists and agnostics in the world will be less compared with followers of other religions, although in the United States and France their share will only grow;
• the number of Buddhists will not change, but there will be a little more Hindus and Jews;
• 10% of Europeans will be Muslims;
• India will have the highest Muslim population in the world, although the country will manage to preserve the Hindu majority;
• in the USA, the share of Christians will decrease significantly, and Judaism will no longer be the largest non-Christian religion in the country - there will be more Muslims in the USA than Jews;
• 40% of Christians will live in the countries of Central and South Africa.

At the same time, Americans are becoming less and less religious - they pray less often and go to church less and less (see our infographics).

Researchers estimate that by 2050, the world's population will grow by 35%. The number of Christians will increase by the same 35%, but there will be more Muslims by 73%.

If in 2010 Muslims made up 23% of the total population of the planet, then by the middle of the 29,7st century their share will grow to 2,8% - in total there will be XNUMX billion followers of Islam on the planet.

The reasons are simple: Muslims give birth more than others, explains Pew Research Center. Thus, on average, 31 children are born in ten Muslim families, 23 in non-Muslim families, and 27 in Christian families.

Additionally, as of 2010, the average age of followers of Islam was 23 years old, much lower than the average age of 30 years for followers of other religions. This means that a large proportion of Muslims will soon reach the age when people usually have children.

The number of Jews will grow a little in absolute numbers, but their share in the world will decrease by the middle of the XXI century. Similar changes await atheists, agnostics and people who do not believe in religion. It will also reduce the proportion of Sith, voodoo fans, Japanese followers of Shinto and other pagan religions.

Moreover, according to forecasts, between the 2010 and 2050 years, the Christian community will suffer the most from a change of religion, which is predicted to lose about 60 millions of believers who prefer other religions.

Recall, the leader among Republican candidates Donald Trump repeatedly made anti-Muslim statements and even spoke for banning entry to the US followers of Islam after terrorist attack in San Bernardino. US President Barack Obama at the same time condemned the rising wave hate and prejudice against muslims.
