The Federal Reserve System (FRS) of the USA no longer intends to raise the base rate this year. In March, the base rate remains unchanged, it will be fixed at the level from 2,25 to 2,50 percent, representatives of the Federal Reserve System Open Market Committee reported on Wednesday, 20 March. As follows from the forecasts, in 2019, the rate will not increase anymore, although at the end of 2018, the Fed promised two more increases.

According to the head of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, there are currently no financial risks that could cause a crisis. Nevertheless, the Fed is cautiously following the development of certain phenomena in the financial markets.

The fact that the Fed does not intend to raise the base rate this year, experts see an indication of a possible cooling of the situation.

In January, Powell said that due to unclear economic conditions, monetary policy should be patient. Earlier, US President Donald Trump several times called on the Central Bank to refrain from further raising interest rates in order not to strangle the situation.

Recall that in the 2018 year, the Fed four times in a year boosted ставки.
