Democratic candidate from the United States Hillary Clinton spoke on Wednesday morning in New York to her supporters after the defeat in the presidential election.

Clinton's running mate, Tim Kane, called Hillary a true story maker and creator of a terrific team.

Clinton herself heartily thanked all those present, expressed hope for cooperation with the new US President and congratulated him on his victory. “I hope he becomes a successful president. We must give him a chance to govern,” the Democratic candidate said. At the same time, she did not hide the fact that she was disappointed with the outcome of the elections and apologized for the fact that the team lost them: “I know how much it hurts you, because it hurts me too.” She said the cornerstone of U.S. democracy is the peaceful transfer of power, and that must be respected.

The situation around the elections showed that the divisions in the United States are much more significant than it seemed. “We saw that our nation is more divided than we thought,” she said.

“I still believe in America and always will. And if you're with me, we need to acknowledge these results and look to the future,” Clinton told her supporters. She stressed how important the support of the women who stood up for her was and urged young girls to “never doubt that they are worthy of every chance and opportunity in the world.” Closing her speech, Clinton addressed the women who believed in her campaign. “I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion,” the former secretary of state said.
