Basketball player who played in Russia died in a shootout with Los Angeles police
27-year-old Tyler Honeycutt, an American basketball player who played for the Khimki sports club near Moscow, was shot and killed as a result of an armed conflict with Los Angeles police officers. The fact of death was confirmed by club players who wished to remain anonymous.
According to Lenta.ru, the city police received a call from Tyler Honeycutt's mother, who complained about her son’s unbalanced behavior. Law enforcement officials came to the basketball house in Los Angeles, where the athlete barricaded himself. Seeing the police, the man opened fire. As required by the rules, the officers responded with shots, one of which was fatal for Honeykatt. None of the policemen was injured.
Tyler Honeycutt was born on July 15, 1990 in Sylmar, Los Angeles, California. He studied at the University of California, where he played for the local team, the UCLA Bruins. He was a professional basketball player and played as a small forward. The athlete did not live just a week before his 28th birthday.
Honeycutt played for Khimki near Moscow from 2014 to 2016, later taking a break and re-signing a one-year contract for 2017-2018.
