Ukrainian doctor in New York got COVID-19, but continues to work and urges others not to panic
A Ukrainian doctor who contracted coronavirus from patients in New York spoke about his symptoms. He urged not to go to hospitals for those with minor symptoms and no lung problems. The publication shares the details "Voice of America".

Украинец Виталий Шама работает медиком в Нью-Йорке. Он заразился коронавирусом, когда обследовал пациентов. Но, несмотря на это, продолжает работать, правда — дистанционно.
«Я полностью потерял обоняние — вся еда теперь, как вата», — сетует он.
При обычной простуде, говорит Виталий, у него есть определенный алгоритм действий, как вернуться к нормальной жизни: несколько дней постельного режима, еще день-два, чтобы болезнь отступила окончательно, — и можно возвращаться на работу. Но с COVID-19 все иначе.
«При коронавирусе даже в легкой форме — три-четыре дня температуры, потом отлежался, вроде стало лучше, а потом опять плохо», — поведал он.
Виталий полностью утратил обоняние: «Ты не чихаешь, нет проблем с носом — просто исчезает нюх сам по себе».
Shama lives in New York with his family. However, about a week before he fell ill, his wife and children left for another state. In order not to infect his family, he asked them not to return yet.
«Когда сдал мазок и увидел, что он позитивный, сразу понял: им нет смысла возвращаться, ведь я могу их заразить», — уточнил он.
In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, Ukrainian colleagues try to rent separate housing or live with friends who have no families.
«Чтобы не нести домой вирус», — пояснил доктор.
