“Even places with a good reputation cannot guarantee the complete safety of ink,” the researchers say.

In the US, tattoo inks are considered a cosmetic product, and the Food and Drug Administration can check them before they enter the market, but they rarely do so, since there were no allegations of the dangers of these products.

The administration conducts inspections when it receives complaints, and their number has increased significantly in recent years. From 1988 to 2003, there were only 5 complaints about tattoo pigments, and from 2014 to 2016 there were already a few hundred years.

Tattooists say that complaints of burning or other allergic reactions often occur in people who use tattoo kits that allow you to make drawings yourself at home.

Scientists have conducted several studies to determine how chemicals in paints behave under the skin and interact with the body.

“Many of the pigments used in tattoo inks are industrial-grade pigments used in printer inks or automotive paints,” the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a study.

It was found that some of the yellow ink used for tattoos is destroyed by exposure to sunlight, thus penetrating the body, but scientists have not determined whether the substances they emit from the destruction of toxic.

According to sociologists, about 30% of Americans have at least one tattoo on their body.

Judging by the numbers, not everyone likes their tattoos - the tattoo removal business is also booming. In 2008, this area amounted to about 40 million financial turnover per year, growth rates show that by 2018 this figure will grow to 80 million.

Nevertheless, sociologists believe that the negative results of the study of ink will not lead to a decrease in the popularity of tattoos, because many people continue to smoke, despite the health risks of cigarettes, which have been proven by years of research.

But there is a possibility that a solution has been found - a company is developing in the United States that makes temporary tattoos that last for about a year, reports Now this.

The Ephemeral company uses special inks, the molecules in which are smaller than in traditional inks, so in a year the immune system will simply destroy the pattern they have made on the skin.

In addition, Ephemeral claims that their ink is safer than usual, the company promises to enter the market in the fall of 2017.
