In the US, scientists have developed a vaccine to fight cancer
Scientists at the US National Institute of Bio-Visualization and Bioengineering have developed nano-vaccine to fight cancer. A compound that causes immune cells to attack a tumor is delivered to the lymph nodes with albumin. The vaccine contains antigens - proteins that allow lymphocytes to recognize different types of malignant tumors. Scientists have added a dye to antigens Evans blue, which binds to albumin, a protein found in blood serum and synthesized in the liver. A small DNA fragment was also added to them to enhance the immune response.
The antibody dye complex was named Albivax (From the English. albumin-binding vaccine - albumin-binding vaccine). After injection Albivax binds to serum protein and is delivered to the lymph nodes where lymphocyte activation occurs.
The drug was tested on several types of tumors, including thymus cancer in mice. Seven animals were given three injections with an interval of two weeks between each. On 70 the day of the experiment, tumor cells were inserted into vaccinated rodents. Four months later, five mice survived. These animals were grafted with another dose of cancer cells, and after six months four experimental rodents survived. Experiments on mice with lung cancer have shown that nanovaccine promotes complete regression of tumors.
