In the US, a new dangerous drug with the "zombie effect"

A famous street drug in the United States, known as KD, has led to frightening symptoms among its consumers living in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Some users, after using it, began to squirm, lying on the ground with wide eyes, and also had breathing problems, writes USA Today.

Those who have managed to stand on their feet move very slowly and suffer from excessive sweating and convulsions.

According to local lifeguard Scott Lebers, the drug can be made from a variety of smoking materials - marijuana, spices, tobacco or even banana leaves - but a common feature is that the cigarette filler is sprayed liberally with bug spray.

Such a drug is very cheap, you can buy a whole package for 20 dollars, and it gives users the 45-minute effect when they feel like zombies, with almost no way to move around.

“Look at what this spray does to a bug and think about what it can do to your brain and body,” Leberz said.

The practice of mixing drugs with other chemicals is not new to Indianapolis. This complicates the work of physicians and rescuers, because often, if necessary, to provide first aid to victims of such drugs, they simply do not know what kind of substance and how a person consumed.

Substances used for narcotic purposes are constantly changing.

In January, at least 17 people in the city were hospitalized after overdosing on “Katie,” a combination of spices and an unknown chemical or drug.

According to doctors, the majority of victims of an overdose of such drugs after a while come to their senses, but at least one needed resuscitation.

Indianapolis police during an investigation conducted 6 arrests of people who were involved in the manufacture and sale of these drug mixtures.

Indiana is not the only state suffering from similar experiments; cases of smoking similar mixtures were recorded in Tennessee.

And in Monroe County, Mississippi, some residents inject intravenous spray against wasps.

Mixing marijuana with such substances is practiced by dealers in order to reduce the cost of goods, and thus get more customers and profits. It is impossible to predict the reaction of each individual to the use of such substances: it depends on his individual physiological characteristics, concentration and properties of the chemical used.

For example, the active ingredient Raid (which is often used in KD), a pyrethroid is generally considered safe for humans at low doses. Exposure to high concentrations of this substance can cause breathing problems, excessive sweating, muscle spasms, or even coma.

Militiamen assume that most consumers are aware of the risks, but their dependence on drugs is so high that they choose the first between the ideas of “high” and preserving their health.

In the case of KD, the hands of the police are tied, since officers cannot arrest a person for acquiring or storing domestic substance, which is an insect spray.
