Two residents of Alexandria (Virginia) Tengiz Sydykov and Eldar Rezvanov were arrested on charges of international arms smuggling and money laundering. As the local prosecutor's office of the Eastern District of Virginia reports, the suspects purchased more than 100 weapons in order to send them to Chechnya, writes RBC.

“The suspects purchased more than 100 units of disassembled firearms, intending to send them to Chechnya without a license. The men tried to disguise weapons under the kitchen utensils, ”it was reported.

The prosecutor's office notes that both of those arrested are from Chechnya; Sydykov 28 years, Rezvanov - 27. They face up to 20 years of imprisonment, however, as the prosecutor's office notes, the court usually assigns a term less than the maximum.

In this case, the message of the supervisory authority does not indicate who exactly was the final addressee of the delivery. In addition to the prosecutor's office, representatives of the counterintelligence and export control services of the US Justice Department are involved in the investigation.
