The number of gas stations that sell gas for less than 2 dollars per gallon is decreasing.

According to AAA, the average price of gasoline in the country for the last month jumped by 17 cents to $ 2,45. This figure is likely to increase by 15-25 cents in the coming weeks, says Patrick DeHan, senior analyst at the GasBuddy app.

“We’ll probably get close, but we won’t make it,” DeHaan says. “We'll be stuck in this rut ​​of rising prices for probably another month or maybe two.”

In recent weeks, gasoline prices have begun to rise across the country due to the fact that refineries are starting annual maintenance projects. This usually happens in spring. As refineries are switching to more expensive summer gasoline blends, prices usually rise.

According to GasBuddy, on February 25, more than 1600 gas stations throughout the country released petrol for less than $ 2. A week later, less than 350 gas stations sold gasoline at this price, and now less than 200, DeHan calculated.

Of course, prices remain at a relatively low historical level. According to AAA, last year prices were higher by 8 cents.

Among 48 states, California has the most expensive gasoline at $3,30, according to AAA. The cheapest in South Carolina is $2,20.
