In North Carolina, the entrance to the church was painted in LGBT colors

The entrance to the Christian church of Wedgewood Church (North Carolina, USA) was painted in iridescent LGBT colors to hide inscriptions made by vandals offensive to members of sexual minorities. It is reported by The Independent.

According to the publication, initially on the doors of Wedgewood Church was a sign with the inscription LGBT Equality ("LGBT-equality"). Then the unknown tried to cover the logo with black paint and left an obscene inscription about gays. With the permission of the church, the parishioners painted over the spoiled slogan with rainbow stripes.

“No black paint will stop us,” commented one of the parishioners, who is a gay activist.

As the Independent notes, Wedgewood Church is a gay-friendly (“gay-friendly”) organization. After the incident, the parish, reports the publication, is considering the possibility of placing a new slogan above the entrance, instead of painted over by opponents of LGBT people (the phrase “We forgive you” may become).

Which of the Christian denominations Wedgewood Church belongs to is not specified.

The flag is used in public gay events, hung out in gay quarters, on the buildings of LGBT organizations, gay-friendly institutions. The rainbow flag was designed by artist Gilbert Baker especially for the gay parade in San Francisco in 1978.
