A meeting of Russian writers was held in New York
6 June in the Central New York Public Library held a creative meeting of the historian of Russian literature and emigration, writer, radio journalist and TV presenter Ivan Tolstoy with representatives of Russian cultural abroad.
The discussion “Literature of the Russian Diaspora: Dialogue of Generations” was timed to the 15 anniversary of the annual festival “Our Heritage”. During the meeting, Ivan Tolstoy discussed with the invited writers Russian emigration as a socio-cultural phenomenon. The participants also discussed the themes of cultural and spiritual heritage of the “Russian abroad”, the connection between generations, and raised the issue of the direction of literary emigration today.
The event was attended by writer and literary critic Alexander Genis, as well as master of ballet photography and theater critic Nina Alovert. Both of them arrived in the United States with the third wave of Russian emigration. Also present were guests from Germany, representing a younger literary generation living outside Russia and writing in Russian. This is a performance poet Alexander Delfinov and the founder of the literary magazine Berlin. Beregi, writer Grigori Arosev.
