In California, fuel costs more due to tax
Fuel prices are rising, although in this period of time, residents of Southern California are usually used to seeing them drop. The growth is due to a new state tax, reports ABC News.
On Wednesday, November 1, the tax on fuel officially comes into force. This will lead to higher gasoline prices at 12 cents per gallon and 16 cents per diesel.
The tax is expected to bring in an extra $ 52 billion to the state’s treasury over the next decade. The money will go to road programs and public transport projects.
The main goal - by the end of 2027, the state 98% of the road surface in the state must be in good condition.
However, not all tax innovation had in spirit. The state has already started collection of signatures for cancellation tax. You must collect 365 880 signatures from registered voters in California in order to claim its cancellation in November 2018.
