The Foreign Office said that if the United States refused to lift diplomatic immunity, three employees would have to leave Russia immediately.
"A note has been sent to the US Embassy with a request to lift diplomatic immunity to prosecute three employees of the American diplomatic mission in connection with their identification as suspects in the theft of personal belongings from a Russian citizen," the Foreign Ministry said. TASS.

Journalists, citing a source in Russian law enforcement agencies, reported that on September 18, three US citizens from the embassy in Moscow, intoxicated, stole a backpack from a Russian citizen. According to preliminary data, the amount of damage was 15 thousand rubles ($ 208).
Moscow police have identified the three men as U.S. Marines between the ages of 21 and 26, media reported citing police spokesman Vladimir Vasenin.
