Three dead in the shooting in Florida will receive medals for the heroism of the US Army

The command approved the junior awards for heroism for the dead cadets Alaina Petty, Peter Wong and Martin Duke, reports Fox News.

The family of 14-year-old Petty was awarded a medal during the funeral service, which was attended by more than 1500 people.

The Wong family received a medal at his funeral on the morning of February 20. 15-year-old Wong died in his cadet uniform, helping students and teachers get away from the shooter.

On the awarding of a guy on the White House website a petition was created.

“His selfless and heroic actions led to the survival of dozens of people. Wong died a hero and deserves to be treated as such and deserves the full honors of a military funeral,” the petition said.

The family decided to bury him in a cadet uniform with a medal. The second medal was given to the family in memory of the deceased.

In addition, the American Military Academy West Point posthumously accepted Wong into their ranks, the deceased dreamed of studying in this prestigious institution.

“West Point issues posthumous acceptance notices on very rare occasions, only to those candidates or potential candidates whose actions have clearly demonstrated honor and duty to country,” the academy said in a statement.

The family of 13-year-old Duke will receive a February 24 medal during his funeral.

All three students were killed by shooter Nicholas Cruise, a former ROTC cadet, 14 in February, when he opened fire on people in the school, resulting in the death of 17 people.

Florida Governor Rick Scott said on Tuesday that he sent the Florida National Guard to attend the cadets' funeral services so that the dead children are buried with honors.
