The administration of Donald Trump for the period of the shatdaun prohibited travel to members of the US Congress on airplanes owned by the government or chartered by him without the written permission of the White House, writes RBC. This is stated in a memorandum issued on Friday by the administrative and budgetary management of the White House. The document is addressed to the heads of executive authorities of the United States.

“In the light of the current partial closure of the government, the president asked me to notify the heads of all ministries and agencies of the US administration regarding the new policy regarding travel of representatives of the legislative branch. Under no circumstances will any of the aircraft owned, leased or chartered by the government be provided to delegations of members of Congress without the written consent of the head of the White House office, ”the document said on behalf of the acting director of the administration and budget administration of the United States Russell. The memorandum was preceded by a conflict around Speaker of the House of Representatives, member of the Democratic Party Nancy Pelosi. She was going to fly to Afghanistan on a military plane. However, Trump a few hours before her departure forbade her such a flight, motivating the decision by the lack of funding, and offered to go on a business trip on a commercial flight.

Pelosi rejected the offer, canceling the trip. Her press secretary, Drew Hammill, explained that the politician was also ready to take a commercial flight. However, the visit was not specifically announced for security reasons - the fact that the president mentioned it "significantly raised the degree of danger for the delegation," he stressed.

Trump's decision to ban her from flying on US Department of Defense aircraft followed this proposal to postpone the message.
