Tesla will recall more than 120 thousands of electric vehicles due to rusty bolts

Tesla has announced a new revocable campaign, which is the largest in the history of the manufacturer of electric vehicles. All Tesla Model S sedans released after April 2016 fall under the recall campaign. In total, approximately 123 thousands of machines are subject to recall, reports ITC.

As for the problem, we are talking about power steering. More specifically, during internal tests, the company's specialists discovered too much corrosion on the power steering bolts. The problem most often manifests itself in very cold climatic zones, especially where the salts of calcium or magnesium chloride, rather than sodium chloride (food salt), are used to combat icing on the roads.

In an email sent to customers, the manufacturer assures that this problem does not pose a danger to the owners of the machines. Even if the bolts fall off, the ability to control the machine remains, but due to the loss of the amplifier, this will require more effort, especially at low speeds and during parallel parking.

According to the manufacturer, the problem may occur in less than 0,2% of sedans sold. This is the lowest percentage for all revocable campaigns that have been conducted. Tesla, and there were several. And there were no reports of such cases, but it was still decided to withdraw the electric cars, which can only be greeted.

As usual, for repair the client should contact the service center. Tesla Service Center or to the official representative of the company. Repair, according to the manufacturer, will take about one hour.
