The United States recorded a record number of people wishing to get a visa H-2B
The US Department of Labor said the agency would not issue temporary H-2B visas until February 20 2018 due to an unprecedented number of applications.
As a result, the US Immigration Service (USCIS) may receive more applications for H-2B than the number of H-2B visas in the second half of the fiscal year 2018.
The immigration service maintains a flexible approach to this problem. To ensure fair distribution of H-2B visas and not exceed the limit, USCIS may randomly select applications received before the end of the submission period.
H-2B visas are issued to qualified and unqualified citizens of foreign countries who come to the United States for temporary work.
Currently, Congress has set the H-2B visa limit on 66 000 for one fiscal year: 33 000 - for employees who start work in the first half of the fiscal year (from October 1 to March 31) and 33 000 for employees who Begin operations in the second half of the fiscal year (from April 1 to September 30).
