Later 20 years in Odessa, a festival of Jewish music and dance
In September, 11-13 will be held in Odessa at the International Festival of Jewish Music and Dance “Listen, Israel!”, Reports the global Jewish on-line center.
Within the framework of the event, five concerts will be held at the Odessa Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Entrance to the performances is free.
According to the organizers, 20 years ago the festival was already in Odessa, and last year was held in Kiev.
The first “Listen, Israel!” Was held in 1993 year in St. Petersburg. Its creator, Jonathan Bernis, initially assumed that the festival will roam across countries and continents, like Jews throughout its history. Over the years, it took place in Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Latvia, Russia, Hungary, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, India and even Ethiopia. In Ukraine, it was hosted by Kiev, Odessa, Zaporizhia, Zhytomyr, Vinnitsa, Donetsk, Berdyansk, and Lviv.
