The most expensive home on the US real estate market is currently the luxurious Chartwell Estate (California) for $ 195 million, aka Chartwell. Its price has recently fallen by $ 50 million. Writes about it Fox Business.

Designed by architect Sumner Spalding in 1930, built over five years and most recently owned by businessman Jerry Perencio, the former chairman of Spanish-speaking television company Univision, Chartwell boasts 11 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms and 40 parking spaces. The main building on the estate is 25 000 square feet (2322 square meters), and the estate itself has an area of more than 10 acres (4 ha).

Chartwell is built in the French neoclassical style with a limestone façade and offers all sorts of first-class amenities—not to mention panoramic views from downtown to the Pacific Ocean. From a tennis court to a 12-bottle wine cellar, from artfully manicured gardens to a 000-foot (75 m) swimming pool, from a five-bedroom guest house to a helipad. The Chartwell appears to have everything a buyer could imagine, in a sophisticated blend of elegance and luxury.

Perenchio, who died in 2017, bought Chartwell in 1986 and significantly expanded the size of the estate, as well as made major repairs to its interiors (using the famous designer Henri Samuel). When he died, the mansion had a net worth of 2,8 billion dollars.
