Russia Demarches US Ambassador Demands Withdrawal of 'US-NATO Military and Equipment' from Ukraine

On February 21, US Ambassador to Moscow Lynn Tracy was summoned to Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They expressed demarche to her in connection with “Washington’s expanding involvement in the situation in Ukraine.”

“The note of protest sent to the ambassador emphasizes that pumping up the Armed Forces of Ukraine with weapons, as well as the transfer of target designations for striking Russian military and civilian infrastructure, clearly proves the inconsistency and falsity of the American side’s claims that the United States is not a party to the conflict,” the Foreign Ministry press service reports. In the Russian diplomatic department, the ambassador was told that "the current aggressive course of the United States to deepen confrontation with Russia in all areas is counterproductive." In Russia, they believe that "to de-escalate the situation, Washington must take steps that involve the withdrawal of US-NATO military and equipment, as well as the cessation of hostile anti-Russian activity."

In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded an explanation from the United States about the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, and also called on “not to interfere with an objective investigation to identify those responsible.” Although it is not clear exactly how the US interfered with this investigation.
