US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was awarded the Genesis Lifetime Achievement Award by the Israeli Genesis Award Foundation. Activists ask the judge to refuse the award, as it is sponsored by Mikhail Fridman, Peter Aven and German Khan, the founders of a large banking group Alfa Group. Ginzburg will be awarded a special prize “For her life’s work”, timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the Genesis Prize.

If Judge Ginsburg Accepts Award genesisthen it will put it in a disadvantageous position, since the US Supreme Court considers Russia's interference in the US election as illegal.

As Western media write, Leonid Blavatnik and Viktor Vekselberg, two oligarchs linked to the Alpha group are probably under investigation by lawyer Robert Muller. Recently, Vekselberg and his company Rusal came under sanctions. Alpha was featured in a British intelligence officer, Chris Steele, and Khan’s son, a Dutch lawyer, was the first person convicted in the Muller case for lying to the FBI.

Activist Ilya Zaslavsky in the material for The Times of Israel says the Alpha group illegally traded oil with Saddam Hussein, provided loans to the Russian nuclear energy consortium Atomstroyexport to build a nuclear power plant in Iran. Until recently, they also provided loans to the Russian military plant “Uralvagonzavod”, whose weapons were used against Ukraine.

In addition, Peter Aven personally defended Russian President Vladimir Putin from prosecution when he was caught in the illegal trade in 1993.

Earlier, the actress Natalie Portman refused to accept the prestigious "Genesis" award in Israel.

Premium genesis (Hebrew - “Bereishit”) was established by Jewish philanthropists in 2012 year. It is annually presented to the “most influential representative of the Jewish people” at a solemn ceremony in Jerusalem in the presence of the president and head of the government of Israel. The monetary part of the award - a million dollars - the laureates are distributed to public organizations of their choice.
