Small businesses in New York will be given away $ 1.8 million

New Yorkers know that business trends can change quickly, so it is sometimes difficult to “stay afloat,” especially for those small businesses that are significant to these communities.

Now the City Small Business Department (SBS) is launching a new initiative to help those enterprises that not only “stay afloat”, but also thrive on the background, for example, rent increases, through expert advice and funding grants.

“At SBS, we believe that small businesses truly are the backbone of New York's economy,” said Rachel Van Tosch, Deputy Commissioner of SBS Business Services. “We want to help businesses that make up a large part of their community adapt to changes in their neighborhoods.”

Now, small businesses can apply for individual expert advice, as well as qualify for up to $ 90 000 in the form of grant awards to implement these recommendations. Enterprises are eligible to participate if they have been operating for at least three years, and are small businesses without franchises in five districts.

Applications will be accepted at nyc.gov/loveyourlocal beginning July 17, and 20 grants will be awarded in one round in September. To participate, business owners will need to provide some information about their company, including where they are located and what problems they are facing.

Once selected, business owners will be consulted with industry experts on topics ranging from hiring and training employees to technology upgrades and business expansion.
