Trump administration sued for sending asylum seekers to wait for decisions in Mexico
Human rights groups in the US filed a lawsuit against the administration of US President Donald Trump in connection with his policy on migrants.
Human rights activists consider it a violation of American laws that asylum-seekers who are not from Mexico, but arrived in the United States across the southern border of the country, are sent to wait for decisions on their cases back to Mexico, writes “Newspaper.ru".
Previously, applicants were awaiting asylum in centers for illegal immigration in the United States.
A lawsuit filed in the US District Court in California states that the policy of the American administration endangers asylum seekers and also violates their right to protection, to which they are entitled under US and international law.
The lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and other human rights organizations.
Recall from January 25 the administration of the President of the United States began send asylum seekers to wait for decisions on their cases back to mexico. Due to the workload of immigration vessels, the waiting period can be delayed for several months or even years.
