'We did it!': Single mother of five children was able to learn to be a lawyer

33-year-old Yeshia, who lives with her family in Houston (Texas), from the age of seven had dreamed of studying for a lawyer, but it seemed that all the circumstances of her life were against it. The girl's mom was a drug addict, and her father was seriously ill, and she was actually homeless - wandered around friends and spent the night on the street.

When the girl became pregnant with her first child, she had to quit school and go to work. In 2009, when Yeshia was already pregnant with her fourth child, her mother died of a stroke, her children's father died of cancer, she lost her job, and her house burned down. At this difficult moment, Joshia called the pastor of her church and told her to go back to school and get a high school diploma, then to go and study for a lawyer. “I thought it sounded absolutely insane, because I'm already too old, I have three children and the fourth one is on the way,” said Yeshia in an interview with CBS News.

Nevertheless, she really returned to school, successfully graduated from it, went to college, and then to law school at the University of South Texas, which she graduated this spring. In parallel, Yeshia bore a fifth child, a daughter, who recently turned five years old.

“I decided to make this photo with my children, because without them I would not have managed. They are also graduates! - says Yeshia. - While I was cooking, they asked me questions on the cards. They portrayed the examination committee, which I told you I learned in school in a day. When I hid in the pantry, I prayed and sobbed there because I could no longer, my eldest son, David, took care of the younger ones, prepared them food, bathed them, collected their school clothes — in short, did everything to make it easier for me. And I did not even suspect that he had already taken care of everything, until she herself began to do all this! When I look at these photos, I cry and laugh and feel incredible gratitude. ”
