Many Americans with HIV do not know that they are infected
US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that many Americans are unaware that they are infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Studies were conducted, during which it became clear that out of 1,2, millions of Americans who are infected with HIV, 14 percent are not even aware of this.
It is these people who are unaware of their disease that in one third of cases become the cause of HIV transmission.
Dr. Cameron Wolfe, who is an infectious disease specialist at Duke University Medical Center, says that in modern times HIV is no longer a verdict. Most people with this diagnosis just take one tablet each day and live a normal life. But for this you need to know about the infection in order to prescribe the correct treatment and not to infect anyone with the virus.
Cameron Wolfe argues that with early detection of HIV in the body, a person has every chance to live to even 70 years.
