The declaration version approved today differs from the text that UNESCO endorsed on October 13. Unlike the resolution from October 13, in the current version no other monotheistic religions are mentioned.

According to the publication, the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount of Jerusalem is considered the third shrine of Islam after the Al-Haram Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. At the same time, the Temple Mount (a rectangular area enclosed by high walls in the Old City of Jerusalem) is also considered the most sacred place for Jews. In addition, this place is mentioned in Christian sacred texts, which makes it holy for Christians.
