He believes that voice-driven devices will be an important way to collect such data.

“The voice is the next big step for us to be able to use the data of a car, a house, or a wearable device,” he said. - This will allow you to make purchases through a conversation with the robot, as well as with a consultant on the trading floor. And this robot will know you as well as mom or dad.

Lore became an employee Walmart after the company acquired the e-commerce club he founded Jet.com. Instead of starting another startup, he headed the digital division Walmart.

Lore believes that Walmart can use virtual reality to attract customers. According to him, the introduction of this technology may take about 10 years, but it’s worth exploring the technology now.

“Look what happened over the past 5 years, this is amazing,” says Lore, “in 10 years we can put on glasses and see the products in their native environment.”

Now this technology is expensive, just as high-performance e-commerce web pages used to be. Lore sees many companies that are already engaged in VR technology in the field of trade. Ultimately, competition in this space will reduce the cost of technology, which will increase their availability for small brands.

“Our goal is as much sales and improvement of the shopping experience as possible,” he says, “today we sell in brick and mortar stores, but in the future you will be able to create exciting interactive experiences that are adapted to a specific personality.

The expert says that the shopping experience in the future will be very different from what we know today.

“It will change the way people shop,” he said.

Recall from Walmart more than 4,7 thousand stores in the US and more than 1 million employees, and now the retailer wants to use these resources to expand competition with such e-commerce leader as Amazon.com Inc. 90% of the US population has at least one store within 16 km Walmart.
