Confession of a Russian woman twice adopted in America

Taisii from Smolensk was 9 when she came to a foster family in New Orleans. Now she is 26. Over the years, she began her life anew three times.

Taisiya was born in the Russian city of Gagarin, Smolensk region. “My last name at the birth of Vinogradov is Taisiya Vinogradova,” says the girl. - I remember that with this name I always lived in an orphanage. When I turned 9, I met my adoptive parents who came from America. Then there was the plane, I was crying in the plane. I will never forget this. A pilot approached me and began to talk and joke with me. He approached me several times, and it somehow immediately calmed me. Just amazing. ”

At the beginning everything was new and alien: a new house, a new school, unfamiliar children and adults around. It is unclear what they are talking about and asking about. The parents brought the girl to the Orthodox Church. “I remember the choir conductor very well then. He was so tall and huge,” recalls Taisiya.

The meeting in this church has become fateful. Less than two months of life Taisii in America, as his adoptive father died suddenly. Serious problems began in her incomprehensible life: the mother didn’t care for her, she could hardly cope with the sudden death of her husband, and she didn’t soon notice that Taisia ​​began to run away from home.

But when she realized that the foster girl had not taken root in her house, she decided to talk with the family in which Taisia ​​loved to visit. This is the family of the conductor of the church choir Eugene Pituka, in which there were three children, and they all gladly accepted in their house a girl from faraway Russia.

The adoptive mother told Taisia ​​that she should temporarily, maybe a year, live in the family of Shirin and Eugene. It was in December, two months after the girl arrived in America.

This is how Taisiya’s “third life” began. For 15 years now she has been a full-fledged member of a large family in New Orleans.

Shirin and Eugene Pituk have four children: Steve, Alisha, Andrew and Taisiya. They call Taisiya "our baby."

Shirin and Eugene will soon celebrate their golden wedding, and by the time they entered Taisia’s family, they had finished school and were preparing for universities. It would seem that the time has come to live for yourself. Still, they again decided to become the parents of a little girl.

“There were many reasons why we made this decision,” says Eugene. - First, we are Orthodox Christians, and Taisiya came from Russia. And we also understood that the family that brought her here is no more. Her adoptive mother was not able to raise a teenager. And we saw how hard it is for this girl to get used to another life: first one house, then her father’s death, all this is very difficult. And she resisted everything she didn’t understand and couldn’t understand because of her age. ”

Shirin adds: “By that time, our children had already left for the universities, we were left alone. But before we decided to adopt, we talked, and they all agreed with us. No one in our family could do otherwise. "

The nature of Taisia ​​was not easy, but given her experience in orphanage and American life, she had to go through many peripeties of teenage life. Taisiya admits that she gave her parents plenty of excuses for their experiences.

In high school most of the time she was not allowed to go out with friends; she had to stay at home. “It was completely deserved,” the girl laughs. “How many times have my car keys been taken from me!” Repeatedly! I honestly say that I was not a golden child. ”

But the parents did not give up, they persistently tried to solve the problems of maturity of Taisia: they communicated with school teachers, collected family councils, to which brothers and sister came from afar.

“They always forgave me, they always loved me,” says Taisia. - You know, I am a nurse and sometimes I help in a special center for difficult children. Many of them are deprived of parental love, they are not loved as my parents love me. And now I share my love with them. To whom, if not to me, to know what it is - loneliness and an understanding of the fact that you were abandoned, they refused you. I was lucky. I do not know what would happen to me. I was just lucky ... with everything. "

Now in the Pituk family they are preparing for new interesting stages in the life of Taisia, because she has ambitious plans. Recently, Taisiya returned to service in the Air Force. She works as a nurse in the 36 Medical Squadron. She wants to finish university to get a diploma and become a doctor in the Air Force.

Taisiya loves to fly, and after work she rushes home, where her mom and dad are waiting for her. Mom has already baked her favorite cookies, dad needs help mowing the grass, she needs to chat with her parents - in general, ordinary family everyday life.
