In Texas, it is proposed to ban the adoption of children to Jews, Muslims and gays

People who want to adopt children in Texas may soon refuse to do so if they are Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, single people or spouses professing different religions.

Corresponding bill was submitted by Republicans to the state legislature, writes CBS.

Five other states have passed similar laws protecting religious adoption organizations that refuse to give up their children to gay parents or members of other religions, but in Texas they are proposing to extend this rule to government adoption agencies. Such rules exist only in South Dakota.

Consideration of the bill was scheduled for 6 in May, but consideration of other issues was delayed, so the discussion and voting on this draft was postponed until next week.

The authors of the bill claim that it is aimed at supporting religious freedom of adoptive parents and educators. Many of the adoption institutions are private and based on religion, but receive public funds, therefore they are obliged to give children to homosexuals or representatives of other religions, which is unacceptable, according to their faith.

But opponents say that this law offers to fund religious discrimination from the state budget, and is also a violation of the US Constitution, which guarantees equality of all before the law.

In addition, lawyers representing the interests of the LGBT community in Texas, said that the adoption of this project will almost completely deprive homosexuals of the right to adopt a child.

Moreover, agencies may require children in the adoption system to comply with religious requirements.

This means that child protection organizations can send children belonging to LGBT people to receive special therapy aimed at turning them into heterosexuals. In addition, these institutions can teach children to abandon contraception and abortion.

This can lead to the fact that orphan adolescents will become pregnant in large quantities, since they will not use contraceptives.
