Florida couple adopts 7 children divided into different orphanages
Dashon and Sofia Olds from Marianna, Florida, adopted 7 children who were divided into four different orphanages. During the 13 years of joint marriage, the couple did not have children, and therefore they decided to adopt.
Sophia first heard the story of the separated seven siblings on Thanksgiving Day. When she and Dashaun saw a photo of the children, they knew these were the children they should adopt. “It was just something that had to be done. My wife and I are lucky and have a big house that is too big for us. It would be selfish of us to have so much space and not share with these kids,” Dashaun said.
On June 2, the Olds family was replenished with Nekia (12 years), Eric (10 years), Eric (10 years), Zawian (10 years), Dawa (9 years), Keyon (8 years), Reggie (4 years). For two years, these children were separated and lived in different orphanages.
These days, Dashaun and Sophia say their home is “full” and “happy.” “I think you have to have a big heart to raise children. We have it. We believe that all children deserve to have a mom and dad,” said Sophia Olds.
