More than half of all immigrants live in 4 states of America
More than half the foreign-born population of the United States lives in just four states—California, Texas, Florida and New York, reports ABC.
The foreign-born population was estimated at 2022 million people in 46,2, or nearly 14% of the U.S. population, according to a U.S. Census Bureau study. In California, New Jersey, New York and Florida, immigrants made up more than 20% of each state's population. And only 1,8% of West Virginians were foreign-born, the lowest rate in the United States. Read about the countries from which the most people move to the United States here.

Half of the foreign-born residents of the United States are from Latin America.

During this time, the share of Asian immigrants rose from more than a quarter to less than a third, and the share of African immigrants rose from 4% to 6%.
The report does not provide an estimate of the number of people in the U.S. illegally.
However, figures show that more than half of foreigners are naturalized citizens, with people of European and Asian descent leading the way. Their naturalization rate is about two-thirds of their number. About two-thirds of immigrants came to the United States before 2010.

The foreign-born population has aged over the past ten years. This is a reflection of life expectancy: the average age has increased by five years to 46,7. Immigrants became more educated between 2010 and 2022. The share of such people who have at least a high school education has risen from more than two-thirds to three-quarters of the population.
