Football players from Russia and Ukraine staged a mass brawl in a Turkish hotel

The conflict occurred on Monday, February 13, at the Royal Seginus Hotel after, according to the Russian side, the Ukrainians allegedly demanded that the “chief of the Yaroslavl Shinnik” sing the Ukrainian anthem, reports DW.

The official position of FC “Minay” (the village of Minay in the Transcarpathian region) in relation to the fight with the Russians - the clash with the Russians occurred due to the inappropriate behavior of their football players. The press service of the Minai football club reported this on Facebook.

According to the Ukrainians, the Minaya athletes reprimanded a Russian football player who, while drunk, was allegedly rude to the hotel staff.

“Yesterday, February 13, a brawl took place in the Turkish Royal Sigunas hotel with the participation of FC Minaj and representatives of the country 404 - Yaroslavl Shinnik. The cause of the clash was the shameful behavior of the Russian team players towards a hotel worker and provocative exclamations towards Transcarpathians,” the report says.

“The fight really happened, but on the floor where the Russians were staying, and in equal numbers. The number of victims from Shinnik only confirms the fact that the Russians are still “abandoning” their own. After the end of the fight, when the Minai were in their rooms, the Russians continued to brawl among themselves. Those who tried to stop the clash were accused of supporting Ukraine. The local police had to intervene to calm the Russians,” FC Minai reported.

The Shinnik doctor diagnosed the Russian players with a cut lip, a broken toe and suspected bruised ribs. Later, a message appeared that the Russian team had made a “voluntary decision” to move to another hotel.

The team also noted that before the start of the meeting, the main requirement of FC “Minai” to the organizers was the absence of Russian teams in the hotel. The organizers themselves claim that the hotel agreed to accommodate “Shinnik”. Transcarpathians appealed to the management of Royal Seginus with a demand to evict the Russians, because “representatives of a terrorist country do not have the right to train and play football outside their country.”

The team reported that on February 14, the Minays went to training according to the schedule.
