Food in social networks: to post or not - that is the question
An army of fans to post food in social networks is increasing every day. It turns out that after such posts the food becomes more tasty. To this conclusion, scientists wrote nypost.com. They published the results research, which show that the publication of photographs before eating warms the appetite.
“The process of taking photographs causes a short-term delay in food intake. This increases the secretion of saliva and substances that give us the opportunity to enjoy the pleasant process of eating food,” the scientists told the publication.
This experiment was conducted by scientists from universities in Philadelphia and California. The study involved 120 people. The teachers confirmed the results of another experiment, which is written about the journal Psychological Science. Employees publications have long proved that the act of delaying food, even just for a few seconds, leads to a more positive perception of certain dishes.
Millions of posts with food
Millions of people today can not leave the restaurant until they take a snapshot of food and put it in the network. On Facebook, you can count dozens of groups whose members are those who fast food. For example, in the group Food Porn already more than two million people are regular participants.
In another social network Instagram, hashtags related to food have become one of the most popular. For example, #foodporn or #foodpics
Opinions of restaurateurs
Some restaurateurs say food photo shoots are bad for their business. While visitors are looking for a beautiful angle to take pictures, the dishes are cooling down. Customers ask for food to be reheated, and these extra steps require additional time. As a result, the flow of customers is interrupted, which directly reduces the establishment’s income.
On how to shoot food are the chefs of famous restaurants, writes the publication bloomberg.com . Here are just a few opinions:
Jean-Georges, New York
Without a phone, a person today cannot go to a restaurant. Most people constantly write text messages and take pictures of something. It does not bother anyone. Look at all the food posted on Instagram. Beautiful! I'm doing the same thing.
Le Gavroche, London
Our menu says that we ask you not to use mobile phones. And if we notice that someone has ignored our request, then we look at the client, as if telling him: please turn off the mobile phone.
Balthazar, New York and London
If one of our clients speaks on the phone for more than five minutes, then we invite them to continue the conversation not in the restaurant.
