Director of the Brooklyn school is accused of having links with the Communists

In early March, the principal Park slope in Brooklyn, Jill Bloomberg learned from a representative of the Special Investigation Division of the New York Department of Education that she was under investigation. The director was not told what the real reason for the suspicion was, but warned that they would conduct interviews with her staff and subordinates.

After that, one of her deputies, who had already managed to talk with the investigators, told Bloomberg about the grounds for suspicion. It turns out that directors are suspected of involvement in the activities of the communist organization.

“I just said, 'You've got to be kidding me?' Will the Department of Education investigate this? What decade are we in?,” says Bloomberg. But she admits that after the shock she realized that she had always accepted the possibility of such an investigation.

For years, Bloomberg has criticized the New York Department of Education in various forums, as well as in the media. For the most part, her criticism was directed at a discriminatory education system that does not provide equal rights for African-American and Latin American students. For many years, Bloomberg helped organize protests to achieve their integration, equal conditions in education and treatment.

Last Friday, Bloomberg filed a class action lawsuit against the school system, indicating that she violated her rights in accordance with Section VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 of the Year, which protects the civil rights of a person and the right to freedom of speech in accordance with the First Amendment. Bloomberg tried to judicially stop the investigation against her, but so far failed to do so.

The prosecutor denies the connection of the charges with the communist organizations. According to the prosecution, investigations are related to the political activities of Bloomberg, which is prohibited by the policies of the Ministry of Education, as well as fundraising during school hours or using school grounds for this.

According to the Department of Education, they were “required” to open an investigation after Bloomberg “brought to their attention information about misconduct.” The latter, of course, denies all accusations.

“I believe that if something is not working in the education system, then we cannot remain silent. We did everything we could,” says the accused school principal. According to her, by creating separate schools for “white students with money”, the rights to equal education for Latino and African-American students are discriminated against.

Be that as it may, some of Bloomberg's employees, maintaining anonymity, also filed complaints against her. They say the defendant is using the school as a platform to spread communist ideas and “raise class consciousness.” Bloomberg's lawyers argue that the accusations are completely unfounded.
