Russian official watches are more expensive than apartments

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny told in his blog about the wristwatches of the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov. Watches noticed on photos from Peskov's wedding and figure skater Tatiana Navka.

Navalny and his colleagues from the Anti-Corruption Foundation claim that the watch model on Peskov’s hand is Richard Mille RM 52-01, there are only thirty of them in the world.

The Anti-Corruption Foundation applied to the Richard Mille boutique in the United States with a request to confirm the model and report how much such watches cost. The response reported that their minimum value 620 thousand dollars. And this is more than 37 million rubles at the current rate in Russia. Thus, the clock newlyweds Peskov are more expensive apartments.

Navalny set out to find out how Peskov could buy a watch worth four times his annual salary, which he officially registered in his tax return. The declared income of the happy newlywed is 9.18 million rubles for 2014.

They could not give it to him, as according to the laws of Russia, all officials must notify about gifts that are more expensive than three thousand rubles, and hand them over for storage. Then you can buy them at the market price, but it turns out that Peskov still had to pay 38 million rubles.

Navalny is sure that this watch is an example of illegal enrichment. After all, there is a clock with an apartment, but there is no legal income for buying them from Peskov.
