Airliner in the United States had to deploy because of the heart found on board

The American airliner, taking a flight from Seattle to Dallas, was forced to turn back because a forgotten human heart was found on board.

Airline Southwest Airlines reported that a container for the transportation of organs for transplantation was transported from California to Seattle, where they had to remove the valve from the heart for a future transplant, writes Air force.

But this container was forgotten to be unloaded from the plane, and its absence went unnoticed until the plane had gone halfway to Dallas.

This heart was not intended to be transplanted to a specific patient.

The incident occurred on Sunday, and its details became known on Thursday.

The flight passengers were extremely surprised when the crew commander announced the finding on board and the reason for returning to Seattle.

Some of them began promptly querying their smartphones for information about how long the transplanted organ could be stored before the transplant operation—usually four to six hours, according to experts.

It is reported that a plane with a heart on board was in the air for about three hours.

A doctor who was on the flight but not involved in transporting the organ told the Seattle Times that he believed the loss of the heart was a horrifying example of criminal negligence.

Immediately after the flight returned to Seattle, the heart was delivered to a special organ storage center. As the newspaper reported, it arrived there on time and will be used to obtain the necessary material for surgeons.
