In November, the American Jewish Congress hosted more than 25 mayors from around the world at the 31 International Conference of Mayors in Israel. The mayors were given the opportunity to meet with world leaders such as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and learn more about Start-UpNation and how Israeli innovation helps the international community.

The mayors met with Israeli leaders: the Prime Minister, Knesset member Erel Margalit, who spoke about hubs and incubators for start-ups in their cities, Jerusalem Mayor Nirom Barkat, Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, Nazareth Mayor Ali Salam, and other prominent Israeli politicians and businessmen Ali Salam and other prominent Israeli politicians and business people.

During the conference, the mayors voiced their support for Israel by signing a resolution against a recent UNESCO petition denying the connection of Jews to Jerusalem and other important Jewish places. The signed resolution was transmitted to Prime Minister Netanyahu.

The conference resolution objects to UNESCO's sowing of political and religious discord by introducing false narratives as part of a disinformation campaign carried out by partisan parties. The delegation also decided that "UNESCO must end repeated controversy, such as the challenge to the Israeli heritage of the Dead Sea Scrolls, one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century, which sheds light on the biblical era."

One of the goals of the conference was to demonstrate the unique technologies and innovations of Israel and give the tools and strategies to mayors for use in their cities. The mayors met with representatives of companies from the sectors of the high-tech, energy and cyber-technologies, as well as with experts on urban development of the nongovernmental organization Start-upNation. The mayors also visited the Jerusalem Innovation Center, took part in a tour of Tel Aviv start-ups, and heard a presentation from mPrest, a company that developed the command and control software of Israel IronDome.
