A US border guard arranged a family holiday to announce the field of his unborn child, but in the process a large forest fire happened by accident.

Because of the stunt, there was a fire that burned 18 thousands of hectares in Arizona. And now the border guard will have to answer for the consequences, according to Media leaks.

Dennis Dickey, an Arizona border patrol officer, wanted to arrange a family holiday in nature to announce what gender the child he and his wife were waiting for. Solemn announcement the man decided to make unusual: Dicky prepared an exploding target with a colored charge. When hit from a firearm, such a target explodes, and the color of the flash should have been a surprise for relatives and friends - it symbolized the sex of the child.

However, the border guard did not calculate how powerful the target explosion would be. A pyrotechnic charge inside, made on the basis of a substance called tannerite, set fire to the grass and bushes around. In Arizona at that time there was a wind speed of up to 18 meters per second, and he quickly spread the flame. Dickey immediately called emergency services, but they could not quickly stop the fire.

The fire started, the fire burned all the next week. It took more than eight hundred firefighters to stop him. Fortunately, Dicky organized his holiday away from populated areas, so neither people nor houses were hurt. However, the fire burned out the area in 18 thousand hectares, the damage to the state of the state was estimated at 8,2 million dollars.

The fire happened in April of 2017, and after a few days the authorities tied it up to Dennis Dickey. The trial lasted until September 28 2018. The border guards pleaded guilty to an unintentional arson. Now he has to pay a fine of 220 thousand dollars (14,3 million rubles), with a little less than half of this amount he will pay immediately, and the rest - in portions of 500 dollars (32 500 rubles) over the next 20 years. According to Dickie, he strongly repents what happened.
