American Airlines leaves children unattended, food and drugs during the 13-hour flight delay

Parents in Washington and Oregon are unhappy with American Airlines. According to them, the airline did not notify them of the 13-hour delay in the flight from Charlotte (North Carolina) to Portland (Oregon), on which their children flew on 9 in August.

Christy Hoyt, the mother of an unaccompanied minor returning home from a summer camp for children with a genetic disorder called neurofibromatosis, said she had to contact the airline’s crew herself to find out what was happening with the flight, no one warned of the delay writes Fox News.

Hoyt said the children on the flight were not given dinner, and they could not take medicine because they had to take them with food. She added that some children did not have access to their medicines, as they were checked in and were in the cargo hold during the delay.

Kelly Phillips, one of the children on the flight, said the members of the group looked after each other after they were brought into the room for unaccompanied minors to wait for the flight to delay.

American Airlines said the flight had "a mechanical delay that left the plane in Charlotte all night." The flight flew to Portland on Saturday morning.
